Acceptable Use Policy
ScholarOut is a place for students — many of them children — to show what they've achieved. These rules apply to everyone who uses the site, and they are part of our Terms of Service. Last updated: October 13, 2026.
Protecting young people
Zero tolerance. The following lead to immediate removal and may be reported to police and to Cybertip.ca:
- Any sexual content, or any content that sexualises or exploits a minor.
- Grooming, or attempting to build a relationship with a minor for an inappropriate purpose.
- Asking a student for private photos, personal contact details, their home address, or to move to a private chat or another app.
- Adults posing as students, or anyone lying about their age or about being a parent or guardian.
Respect for others
You must not:
- Bully, harass, threaten, intimidate or shame anyone.
- Post hateful content targeting anyone because of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic.
- Post anyone else's personal information, photos or videos without their permission.
- Impersonate another person, school or organisation.
Honest profiles and campaigns
- Only list achievements, awards, activities and experience you genuinely earned.
- Don't create fake profiles or more than one account.
- Don't run misleading or fraudulent scholarship campaigns, or misrepresent how pledged funds will be used.
Prohibited content
- Violent, graphic or self-harm content.
- Content promoting drugs, alcohol, vaping, weapons or gambling.
- Spam, advertising, chain messages or commercial solicitation.
- Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights.
- Anything illegal in Canada or where you live.
Protecting the platform
You must not:
- Scrape, harvest or bulk-collect profiles or personal information, by automated means or otherwise.
- Try to access accounts, data or areas of the site you're not authorised to use, or get around our age, approval or privacy controls.
- Upload viruses or malicious code, or disrupt or overload the service.
- Use ScholarOut to train AI models or build a competing database without our written permission.
Enforcement
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or permanently delete accounts that break these rules. Serious violations — especially those involving the safety of a child — will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Report it
If you see something that breaks these rules, use our Report an Issue page. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first.
